Another flourishing SENSOR+TEST trade fair with further success anticipated in 2019

The SENSOR+TEST trade fair in Nuremberg took place from 26thto 28thJune with gratifying figures. Just about 8,000 visitors (last year 8,107) used the three days of the fair to obtain comprehensive information at the stands of the 591 exhibitors (last year 569) and to catch up at the forums on the state of the art of sensor, measuring, and testing technology. The number of exhibitors from abroad was the highest in the last ten years. The share of exhibitors from abroad soared to a new record of 40%. Thus, the SENSOR+TEST impressively substantiated its position as the worldwide leading event for sensor, measuring, and testing technology.

Even Germany’s unexpected early exit from the soccer world cup – watched live at many booths – hardly clouded the good mood among the visitors and exhibitors. Christoph Kleye, chair of the Exhibitor Board, commented on the satisfaction of the exhibitors, saying, “The expectations of the exhibitors were exceeded – especially on the first day of the fair. The stream of visitors was better distributed in time and in the halls than ever before. We also noticed that visitors stayed longer at the stands, which also contributed to the relaxed atmosphere.”

Holger Bödeker, managing director of the organizing AMA Service company, confirmed, “Worries about the late date of the fair turned out to be largely unwarranted. We’re convinced that the new, permanent date in the last week of June will soon be well established in the sensor and measurement industry. The SENSOR+TEST will keep on being the Measurement Fair from Specialists for Specialists – providing a high quality of visitors and addressing all major areas of application”.

The parallel 19. ITG/GMA Fachtagung Sensoren und Messsysteme 2018 on the first two days of the fair were also well attended. The chairmen of the conference, Prof. Dr. Leonhard Reindl (Freiburg University), and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wöllenstein (Fraunhofer IPM, Freiburg), were delighted over the expanded conference agenda with five parallel sessions as well as about 170 lectures and poster sessions, not to mention the good attendance.

Also parallel to the SENSOR+TEST was the ettc 2018, the European Test and Telemetry Conference in Hall 2. Renaud Urli, the instrumentation manager at Airbus Helicopters and president of the supporting European Society of Telemetry, said, “The visitors praised the proximity of conference and exhibition. All in all, we had a somewhat lower number of exhibitors than in 2016, but on the other hand we had a lot of new enterprises that presented their products and services at the ettc for the first time. The high level of technical competence and the internationality of the participants must also be mentioned.”

The SENSOR+TEST 2019 – with the special topic Sensors and Measurement for Process Automation – will be held from 25th to 27th June, 2019, as always at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. Networking and digital transformation will continue to be a focal point of the fair.

Next year, the fair will be accompanied by the 20. GMA/ITG Fachtagung für Sensoren und Messsysteme 2019.
