New compact weather station provides precise and reliable data in harsh marine environments

Jul 09 2024

Gill Instruments has recently introduced the MaxiMet Marine GMX260, the latest in its popular range of MaxiMet compact, integrated, multi-parameter weather stations. The new weather station joins the GMX560 in the MaxiMet Marine range of highly sophisticated marine performance devices.

Gill developed the Marine GMX260 based on the core capabilities of the MaxiMet range, which is already ubiquitous in the marine sector. Its applications include offshore wind farms, helidecks, buoys and unmanned surface vessels.

MaxiMet Marine is IP68 (this product is tested for water resistance to a depth of 1 metre for an hour) and IP66 (Ingress Protection - dust-tight and protected against powerful waterjets) rated. It features a 6-axis compass, which compensates for tilt and provides pitch and roll data. Its high-quality, solid-state sensors provide reliable, accurate measurement, with no moving parts

MaxiMet Marine also offers the core MaxiMet features including easy set-up and integration and configurable single-line output for easy data collection. The device has a robust construction and includes a low-power Eco Mode for power-sensitive applications. All MaxiMet instruments have minimal maintenance requirements and a low cost of ownership.

The MaxiMet Marine range measures the following parameters: Wind, speed and direction, temperature, humidity and pressure, heating (optional) and GPS (optional)

Gill MaxiMet compact weather stations have been deployed by an extensive range of commercial, scientific and government organisations. This highly advanced range of weather stations is widely used on land as well as marine applications both for standalone measurement and integration into larger systems. The MaxiMet range is also renowned for its robust design, accurate measurement and ease of use.
