More than 50 diplomats from 31 countries attend the Ambassadors’ Day of Wasser Berlin International

For the first time, along with Berliner Wasserbetriebe, the project team of Wasser Berlin International extended an invitation to attend the Ambassadors’ Day on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds and to visit the water treatment plant in Ruhleben and the International Club Berlin on 16 September 2014.

Ingrid Maaß, COO of Messe Berlin GmbH, welcomed 50 high-ranking delegates from the embassies of the following 31 countries: Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Canada, Cape Verde, Congo, Croatia, Cuba, Egypt, Georgia, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Namibia, Nepal, the Netherlands, Niger, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Venezuela Zambia and Zimbabwe.

“The high attendance at this event was proof once again that water security is a global challenge and an issue of utmost importance in every country around the world,“ said Maaß. “Six months before the fair is due to begin, exhibitors from 36 countries have already registered to take part. China, Denmark, the Netherlands and the USA will be represented with their own national pavilions. Already, it is clear that levels of international attendance at Wasser Berlin International  are set to increase yet again.“

After the reception a visit took place to the water treatment plant in Ruhleben, Germany’s largest water purification plant.

According to Jörg Simon, chairman of the board of Berliner Wasserbetriebe and of Verein Wasser Berlin e.V., “Berlin has outstanding solutions to the big challenges of urbanisation and sets the standard in terms of best practices, which cities around the world are implementing too.“

Dr. Fritz Holzwarth, managing director of Verein Wasser Berlin e.V., added: “Not only can Berlin boast that it has Berliner Wasserbetriebe, an innovative utility company, it also has Wasser Berlin International , the bi-annual international trade fair and congress for water management. With its systematic approach it showcases all the products and services of the entire water supply cycle.

From 24 to 27 March 2015, over a period of four days, Berlin will be the meeting place of the international water industry."
