SIL2 certified IR industrial sensor for CO2, CH4 and hydrocarbon monitoring

Mar 07 2022

The IRNET PRO is a highly versatile infrared (IR) sensor from N.E.T. that is widely used in a host of industrial applications across the globe. In freezing Arctic conditions or in the hottest and most aggressive industrial locations, or in clean-rooms or hospitals, whether it is used for protecting human life or process optimisation, the IRNET has proven to be a reliable and precise sensor wherever and wherever it is deployed. N.E.T.’s best-selling IR sensor, the IRNET PRO is available in 20 mm and 32 mm versions

N.E.T’s IR sensors operate on microprocessor-based signal processing offering users a linearised and temperature-compensated output in both digital and analogue formats. This provides manufactures a perfect choice, even if they are new to IR technology.

The 32mm version has an extended optical path, this provides enhanced resolution, stability, humidity drift and cross sensitivity, and is therefore built to higher specifications in comparison to  20mm versions. The smaller the detection range, the better the sensor performances. This sensor’s high level of reliability and versatility makes it the perfect choice for integration into a fixed CO2 or hydrocarbon gas LEL detector.

The 20mm IRNET PRO, which is also available with ATEX and IECEx certification, also detects CO2 or hydrocarbon gases such as propane and methane in LEL range. The 0-100%Vol range version includes N.E.T.’s DYNAMIC technology for the most precise sensing accuracy ever achieved by a compact sensor. These sensors also offer an optional digital output for propane detection over the 0-2.1%Vol range, which is ideal for detecting different hydrocarbons using a cross-reference factor.

N.E.T.’s IR sensors are SIL2 certified by the Functional Safety Assessment from TUV Nord. No other gas sensor on the market has a higher level of SIL certification, so this series of IR detectors are the perfect choice when designing gas detection systems and SIL-rated functions that must achieve the highest levels of functional safety.
