New 96-well multiplate oxygen reader for efficient customisable environmental research

PyroScience's FirePlate-O2 is a compact, PC-operated optical multi-channel oxygen reader designed for simultaneous dissolved oxygen and O2 measurements across up to 96 channels. Supporting 96-well microplates with integrated oxygen sensors, it offers an efficient and customisable solution for research applications. The dedicated measurement software ensures precise calibration and flexible data acquisition.

Available in sterile flat-bottom and round-bottom formats, the microplates feature oxygen sensor minispots immobilised at the centre of each well, enabling contactless readout via the transparent bottom. Alternatively, oxygen nanoprobes can be dispersed in the medium and added to microplates for real-time monitoring of oxygen turnover rates. The system allows seamless integration into third-party incubators or shakers using an available adapter, with temperature-compensated measurements ensuring accuracy.

The FirePlate-O2 is ideally suited for screening, process engineering, small-scale cell cultivation, respiration rate analysis, enzyme activity determination, and environmental research.

PyroScience also offer the OXMWP-96F flat-bottom oxygen multiwell plates, which are equipped with integrated oxygen sensor minispots at the bottom of each well, enabling simultaneous oxygen measurements across 96 channels. These multiwell oxygen microplates are placed directly onto the FirePlate-O2 reader and read out contactlessly through the transparent base, enabling non-invasive and highly efficient data collection. Also available in a round-bottom format (OXMWP-96R), these plates are used in applications such as enzymatic studies, environmental monitoring, cell cultivation, and process optimisation. Each sterile sensor is ethylene oxide-sterilised and individually packaged in a sterilisation bag with additional dark lid to shield from ambient light interference during calibration and measurement. The integrated oxygen sensor minispots are biocompatible and firmly adhered to the well, ensuring reliable, real-time oxygen monitoring. Calibration is straightforward, with the Pyro Workbench software allowing ambient air calibration in just a few clicks.
