Innovative connected single-gas detector unveiled at National Safety Council Safety Congress & Expo

Blackline Safety Corp. (TSX: BLN), recently launched a new connected wearable to transform single-gas detection; the all-new G6 personal gas detector debuted at the National Safety Council (NSC) Safety Congress & Expo in San Diego and offers fast incident response time and a more efficient way to manage safety and compliance.

What makes G6 truly unique is its long-lasting, unsurpassed connectivity; for the first time, industrial organisations can fully harness real-time vital safety data in situations where disposable, conventional, beep-and-flash devices were usually the most widely used detectors.

With the G6, operators do not just have a fully connected and intuitive solution with the latest in Internet of Things (IoT) cellular connectivity, G6 also offers a longer battery life, lower cost of ownership and less false alarms. Crucially, it provides safety professionals access to the reliable and precise data necessary to manage their safety protocols, processes and ongoing compliance simply, effectively and efficiently.

Cody Slater, CEO and Chair, Blackline Safety stated “With this new technology, we’re bringing unprecedented levels of connectivity to industrial workplaces, helping to reduce the risk of injury, boost productivity and bring proactive safety management to a new level. We’re responding to a direct need in the market, giving safety managers higher performing technology to access reliable, actionable data at their fingertips.”

Built-in capabilities of G6 include:

Why is connectivity so important for worker safety?
This solution provides tried and tested direct-to-cloud cellular connectivity that works straight out of the box. Operators can rely on complete safety management via Blackline’s Live software portal. Safety management teams can now view a whole fleet of devices on a single screen, whilst receiving automatic, over-the-air firmware and configuration updates.

Operators will improve incident response times supported by real-time notifications and GPS mapping to locate workers and devices rapidly and accurately and comprehend precisely what is happening as incidents unfold.

Reliable gas detection and powerful analytics
The G6 offers sensor options to alert workers to exposure of toxic gases, such as hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide, oxygen and sulphur dioxide rapidly and reliably. Personnel enjoy enhanced safety thanks to greater precision short-term exposure limit (STEL) monitoring and highly accurate data that reduces false alarms and drives powerful reporting and analytics to get ahead of safety risks.

Longest-lasting device life
The G6 also has a long-life rechargeable battery that lasts up to one year, lost or stolen devices are easy to track and the device has an expected lifespan of four years, whereas most competitive models will last for only two.

In a recent survey by Priority Metrics Group, 75 percent of environment, health and safety managers saw significant value in gas detectors with expanded features. They also expressed a preference for simpler, more integrated solutions for using data generated from gas detection systems to make better decisions through better information.

The G6 is ideal for large industrial organisations in the oil and gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, utility, and renewable energy markets, Operators can access critical single-source data from anywhere, any time and on any Web-enabled device, before analysing it via Blackline’s advanced reporting, visualisation and data analytics software. Therefore safety managers can now obtain crucial data insights that help them through possible risks and make day-to-day operations more efficient. Meanwhile, they have state-of-the-art technology and cloud-connectivity on hand to react to incidents quickly and confidently in real-time when they do occur.

The G6 includes a full warranty and flexible purchase options including the options to own or lease to maximize their CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
