STL Expand Portfolio Through Purchase of Field Services Business
Jan 14 2009
Severn Trent Laboratories (STL) Ltd (UK) have recently announced the purchase of the field analytical tools business, Cybersense. The acquisition will expand STL’s existing portfolio of
field services, which includes equipment hire and on-site sampling.
STL will now be able offer advanced field analytical tools for a variety of applications within the contaminated land sector. In addition, they can also provide experienced engineers to conduct
in-field analysis on behalf of the customer.
STL will combine these services with their existing laboratory capability to offer customers a total solutions package for the investigation of potentially contaminated land.
The integration of field and laboratory testing for site investigation purposes is still a relatively new concept but the combination delivers the speed of on-site testing with the quality and reliability of traditional laboratory analysis. Field analysis can be used to accurately identify areas of contamination, which can then be sampled for analysis at the laboratory, offering cost-effective site investigation. As a result of integrating the two services, STL will be able to relate field-generated results to validation data from laboratory analysis, alleviating the concerns that sometimes arise regarding the quality of field data. STL will also be offering technical support including training in the use of field tools, project advice and statistical analysis of field data.
The acquisition of Cybersense fits STL’s strategy to further enhance their field service provision and develop a service offering that will meet the needs of their customers, both now and
in the future. STL will spend the next few months incorporating Cybersense into its existing field services division, enabling them to offer a fully integrated analytical service.
