Determination Of Mercury In Environmental Samples
Mar 15 2011
P S Analytical (UK) was established in 1983 and has gained a worldwide reputation for the determination of mercury in environmental samples. Utilising its atomic fluorescence spectrometry instrumentation, PSA has developed instrumentation that provides accurate and reliable measurements at ppt levels, specialising in difficult matrices including petrochemical applications. Working with both industry and academia, PSA has designed laboratory and process systems which are then tailored to the end user requirements and meet accepted standards for both measurement and safety. PSA’s online process systems have been configured for natural gas and liquid condensate applications.
Systems have been in continuous operation for several years using the unique approach which both collects samples and then reconditions the sampling systems once the samples have been determined. To augment these instruments PSA has devised a calibration system which provides measurements trace to international standards.
In addition instrumentation has been developed for the determination of arsenic using similar atomic fluorescence technology. Both systems can be used to control the quality of the products produced in the process plants as well as monitoring the performance of catalytic convertors used to remove these elements from the hydrocarbons. P S Analytical continues its co-operation with providers and its research programme includes speciation studies in many other matrices as well as the petrochemicals described above.
