Eurofins Appoints General Manager for Waters Business

Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK has announced a new General Manager of its water hygiene and water testing business as part of a commitment to enhance its business offering.

Melissa Lane has more than 20 years’ experience in water hygiene testing and moved to Eurofins following the company’s acquisition of Exova’s pharmaceutical, food and water testing business in the UK & Ireland in July 2016.

Melissa will have responsibility for the company’s water microbiology and water chemistry laboratories across the UK, which provide UKAS accredited analysis to assess the safety of water in cooling towers, hot and cold water systems, closed systems and recreational waters such as swimming pools and spas.

Melissa confirmed the commitment to focusing on the business operations ensuring even greater consistency and efficiency to clients. She said: “My intention is to shape the waters labs to offer a seamless service to our clients.

“In the past, national clients may have worked with individual labs - all in a potentially, slightly different way, however as part of our commitment, we need consistency of standards and procedures, to pull it all under the same remit, and to offer routine best practice.

“My first months will be spent working on the structure and strategy then I will seek to build the business together, so that the labs are able to best complement each other and so we can offer an even greater level of excellence to our client base.”

Water testing laboratories are currently situated in Camberley, Grimsby, Hillington and at the Eurofins UK headquarters in Wolverhampton, where Melissa will be based, and which is currently undergoing a £1.5million expansion. The company is also building a brand new Water Testing facility in Livingston which will be complete in Q3 2017.

The company recently received UKAS accreditation for water chemistry work undertaken within the water testing business, which Melissa said underlined the company’s commitment to the highest standards.

“Our clients need the highest levels of assurance of the accuracy and validity of their test results so this is a crucial requirement,” she added.

Longer term, Melissa said she intended to grow the Waters business and seek to adopt new testing techniques and technologies as they became available.

“I’m looking forward to working with the individual labs and all our clients to further improve services in all aspects and to work with our Quality and Technical team, to ensure we remain at the forefront of any developments,” she added.

Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK and Ireland is made up of 11 world-class laboratories and is the world leader in food, feed and water testing, offering a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art analytical techniques to support customers' increasingly stringent quality and food safety standards.

The company is part of Eurofins Scientific, an international life sciences company which provides a unique range of analytical testing services to clients across multiple industries worldwide.
