WeatherStation Instruments Surpass One Million Nautical Hours
Oct 23 2017
AIRMAR® Technology Corporation, experts in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of innovative ultrasonic transducers, today recognised the achievement of more than one million nautical hours of service on buoys, USV/AUVs, and numerous recreational and commercial vessels.
The ultra-compact 200WX-IPX7 WeatherStation® Instrument’s rugged dependability and industry-leading IPX7 rating are built to withstand the punishing environments that our OEM partners require. “Crossing one million hours of trouble-free service is a testament to the design integrity built into Airmar’s 200WX sensors.” Says AIRMAR’s CEO Stephen Boucher. He adds “We built the 200WX to tough IPX7 standards and our partners can attest to its consistent performance at sea.”
“Our Wave Gliders must endure and survive very harsh environments in all parts of the world.” states Charlie Nguyen, Sr. Software Engineer at Liquid Robotics®. “Airmar has gone above and beyond as a supplier and have worked with us to improve the durability and reliability of their products. They have designed and developed new product enhancements which we are excited to utilise on the Wave Glider platform. Some of these enhancements include lower power consumption which helps to extend the overall mission duration for our customers. We value both the products that Airmar provides and its people who work with us to make our combined solution even better.”
The success of the 200WX-IPX7 is, in part, due to the ability to address the challenging SWaP targets defined by today’s leading USV manufacturers. With a compact size, low current draw, high level of functionality (6 sensors) and real-time data, it possesses the critical components for the limited space and power consumption of buoys, USV and AUVs.
The 200WX-IPX7 WeatherStation instrument accurately measures current weather conditions and provides the following output data: Theoretical wind speed and direction, Air temperature and calculated wind chill, Barometric pressure, GPS position, speed over ground, course over ground, Heading from a three-axis solid state compass with dynamic stabilisation, Rate of Turn from a three axis rate gyro.
In addition, the 200WX-IPX7 excels with the following attributes: Best-in-class pitch and roll accuracy, IPX7 water proof rating, Low current draw for maximum mission duration.
