Online Waste Water and Flue Gas Measurements Exceed Current Performance Criteria
Jan 21 2014
P S Analytical (UK) offers a wide range of services and monitoring equipment for laboratory, process and compliance measurements. On and offline systems are available for flue gas and waste water discharges. Systems are based on atomic fluorescence and exceed the performance criteria for all applications.
The thermal combustion of fossil fuels, waste incineration and the production of cement all lead to environmental emissions of Mercury and toxic metals such as Arsenic, Selenium and Antimony. The anthropogenic input of these elements has a profound effect on the environment and human health and as such governmental environment agencies have implemented legislative controls with stringent permitting regulations.
To understand the extent of these emissions it is imperative to have accurate trace element measurements of the materials and fuels that feed the processes. Volatile elements such as Hg and hydride forming elements such as As and Se have a tendency to be emitted with flue gas. With the gradual introduction of sorbent injection, selective catalytic reduction and desulphurisation systems to achieve air quality standards, these volatile element emissions have shifted to particulate and water discharges.
Systems are routinely tailored for individual customer specifications and their in-house specialists work closely with customers to assist with specific applications.
