New Calibration Facility Sets Standards Worldwide
Sep 17 2008
Endress+Hauser Flowtec (Switzerland) the company`s new calibration
facility sets standards world-wide. âIt puts us in a position to satisfy even the highest customer requirements with-out any compromise whatsoeverâ, as CEO Dr. Gerhard Jost was pleased to announce at the ceremony marking the opening of the new facility on Wednesday, 27 February 2008.
Uniformly high product quality is one of the most important goals set by
En-dress+Hauser. In meeting these objectives the private family-owned
company is pre-pared to invest significant sums in its production facilities.
The flowmeter calibration facility in Reinach embodies an outstanding concept, with the backing of a 22-strong team of highly qualified engineers, technicians and designers.
The new calibration facility produces measurements that deviate no more
than ±0.015 percent from the reference value â equivalent to about the contents of one champagne glass in one thousand liters of water. Thirty influencing variables in all were taken into account in order to achieve the excellent performance of this facility. A regi-men of constant checks and controls ensures that the high requirements on calibration accuracy are reliably satisfied.
Dr. Hugo Bissig from the Federal Office of Metrology (METAS) in Bern and Mr. August Schaub from the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) represented the Swiss accreditation authorities at the opening, and had the opportunity of seeing for themselves just how this reliability is implemented.
Highly accurate calibration satisfies all requirements: âThe new facility enables the Promass F Coriolis flowmeters we manufacture in Rein-ach to be calibrated accurately to the specified figure of ±0.05 percentâ, explained CEO Dr. Gerhard Jost to the guests. âThat represents the very best in the international league.â Accuracy of this nature enables the company to cope with increasingly strin-gent customer requirements in future-oriented sectors such as life sciences, chemicals, foodstuffs and petrochemicals. âAs well as performing reliably, our flowmeters must present certification for their high
measuring accuracyâ, emphasized the CEO.
Throughout the production process, Endress+Hauser subjects all the components to constant and rigorous checking. The fully assembled flowmeters are then tested, cali-brated and adjusted in state-of-the-art calibration facilities. Calibration means that the flow indicated by a meter is compared with the reference value furnished by the calibra-tion facility, and the meter is then adjusted accordingly. Customers throughout the world benefit in a number of ways: they can dependably measure and process costly raw materials and intermediate products, comply with what are often extremely strict quality
specifications, and implement optimum process automation to minimize their costs. This is particularly important for custody transfer applications, for example fuel loading.
