Total chlorine analyser provides precise, reliable and cost-effective analysis in process rinse water, cooling or chiller water, plant re-use and effluent applications
Jul 11 2023
Technicians responsible for industrial rinse water, cooling or chillier water, plant water re-use and environmental effluent monitoring applications have an excellent solution available in the TC80 Total Chlorine Analyser from Electro-Chemical Devices (ECD). This highly advanced instrument offers highly accurate and dependable liquid, yet cost-effective, measurement of Chlorine (Cl2) in plant water.
The TC80 Analyser is a versatile solution that offers simple installation, eliminates the need for consumables and reduces maintenance requirements. With its self-cleaning design, this analyser lowers the total cost of instrument ownership significantly over its long life. As a panel-mounted unit, the TC80 is ready-to-use straight out of the box. Furthermore, it fully complies with regulations such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Method 334.0, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
At the heart of the TC80 Cl2 Analyser lies a precision three-electrode amperometric sensor that measures all chlorine species in the water, including combined chlorine and free chlorine. Customers can choose from two configurations: a standard high-range configuration that measures Cl2 from 0.05 to 20 ppm or a standard low-range configuration of 0.005 to 2.000 ppm. The analyser pre-calibrated at the factory to the selected measurement range before shipment, streamlining the set-up procedure.
To ensure accurate measurements, the TC80 incorporates an integral pH sensor that provides precise compensation for samples with pH levels ranging from 4 to 12, eliminating the need for expensive sample conditioning systems to control the pH of the solution.
The TC80 Cl2 Analyser is a comprehensive solution that needs no extra third-party components. ECD provides all the necessary components in a single box which is assembled on a panel mount board. The plug-and-play design enables easy installation, requiring no special training or tools. Technicians only need to connect the sample and drain lines, power, and outputs, and the analyser is ready to use. By using amperometric sensor technology and automatic pH compensation, the TC80 keeps the cost of ownership low, as it eliminates the need for expensive reagents or replacing them, saving valuable technician labour time.
With its automatic flow control, large flow tubes, and cells, the TC80 Analyser significantly reduces clogs and blockages commonly experienced with many total chlorine analysers. Cleaning is easy and users have the option to include an auto-cleaning feature that ensures the chlorine sensor remains free from water contaminants for an extended period. This scheduled pressure-spray washer prevents particles from sticking to and building up on the sensor.
For flexible installation, the TC80 Cl2 Analyser offers both 110-240 VAC and 24 VDC power options. The TC80 provides graphical displays of both total chlorine and pH levels, facilitating easy trend analysis. The standard configuration includes two 4-20 mA outputs and three alarm relays with 24 VDC or 110/220 AC power. Users also have the choice of MODBUS and/or HART communication options, allowing seamless integration with automated process control systems for real-time adjustments of Cl2 levels in the process stream.
