Wastewater Analysis
Intelligent and versatile multi-channel controller provides a total system solution for wastewater analysis
Nov 07 2022
Electro-Chemical Devices’ (ECD) versatile LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller provides a complete process measurement analytical platform for water quality, ideal for use in the treatment of municipal wastewater or industrial effluent.
The LQ800 enables plant operators to monitor the data from over 50 of ECD’s sensors or transmitters within a municipal water disinfection system easily and economically. The intelligent multi-channel controller processes data from the sensors thus eradicating the necessity for the installation and use of multiple measurement transmitters.
This device works with all ECD’s S80 Series Intelligent Sensors, monitoring pH, ORP, ammonium, dissolved oxygen (DO), nitrate, total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, free and total chlorine. ECD’s input level and flow sensors can also be added; it works with other manufacturer’s sensors via 4-20 mA inputs as well.
The LQ800 Controller also operates with ECD S80 Sensors to monitor conductivity, resistivity and dissolved oxygen; additionally, selective ion sensors are available to measure ammonium, bromide, cadmium, calcium, chloride, copper, cyanide, fluoride, lead, nitrate, nitrite, potassium, silver, sodium and sulphide.
Thanks to its cutting-edge design, the LQ800 digitally communicates with all of ECD’s intelligent sensors, automatically configuring the controller menus and large, touchscreen display screens to clearly display the measured parameter. Measurement data for plant process control is provided by two-way communication between sensors and the controller. The display and interface can be web-enabled for remote monitoring and connection with personal handheld devices and computers accessed through the internet.
Sensor-type and serial number are stored in the sensor’s memory as well as calibration registers. The sensors are calibrated at ECD’s factory, so they are ready for use as soon as they are connected. These sensors are waterproof and submersible; their internal components are epoxy encapsulated inside their housing with a variety of process fittings and configurations.
This device can work in tandem with multiple units or connected to other ECD on-line analysers for large and more complex processes. Output options include: eight 4-20 mA outputs, eight configurable relays for alarm, activated timers, control, and fault and Ethernet communication; a data logging function is available too.
ECD’s S80 sensors are pre-calibrated at the factory however field calibration adjustments are easy to carry out with the controller. The LQ800’s calibration menu features an auto calibrate function, a two-point calibration, a standardise function and a single point calibration. The controller’s manual calibration function enables previously determined offset and slope values to be entered manually.
The rugged LQ800 Multi-Channel Controller is made with heavy duty materials ideal for rugged environment requirements and has a NEMA 4X/IP65 rating for water resistance; it operates in temperatures from 15 to130°F/ -10 to 55°C.
This compact and lightweight device can go almost anywhere and is wall mounted as standard, with an optional handrail or stand mounting as well as an optional sunshield for high-intensity light environments.
