PNG Oil and Gas Field Operator Chooses Rugged and Simple-to-Use Products
Feb 13 2014
Through their global supplier network, Aquaread (UK) products are distributed all around the world and are used for a variety of water quality testing applications. One of the companies that use their water testing equipment is Oil Search (PNG), a major operator of oil and gas fields in Papua New Guinea.
Oil Search was established in PNG in 1929 and they have continued their operations in some of the most challenging terrain and environments around the world ever since. The company are stakeholders, with a 29% interest, in the $15.7 billion PNG liquefied natural gas project.
“In 2012, Oil Search (PNG) made a decision to upgrade field water quality monitoring instrumentation and proceeded to purchase two sets of Aquaread water meters fitted with AP-2000 and AP-7000 probes. The choice of selecting Aquaread instrumentation for our environmental water quality monitoring program was straightforward. The instruments are simple to operate and calibrate, light, compact and reliable to withstand the tough environmental conditions encountered in Papua New Guinea. Inbuilt GPS to capture coordinates for every data point is a useful feature and Aquaread provide quality and helpful support.”
Aquaread utilise rugged materials in their Aquaprobes so they can withstand the harshest environments, which is ideal for PNG. All their water quality testing probes use AquaConn connectors that give a rigid fit, and are supplied with various lengths of KevlarCore cable, which means there is no need for additional support wires.
The AP-7000 is suitable for use in long term, unmanned deployment. It has a self-cleaning function and can be used with telemetry systems to transmit data directly to your lab computer. On the other hand, the AP-2000 is a portable, handheld device, which is easy to carry from one testing location to another. Each Aquaprobe tests a standard set of parameters straight out of the box. The AP-2000 has sockets for 1 additional ISE electrode and 1 optical electrode; the AP-7000 has 6 additional ports to take any of our sensors. Aquaprobes can be used to test 23 different water testing parameters.
