Using the Futura to Test Water Phosphorous Content
Jun 28 2011
Veolia Water has installed a new waste water disposal unit at the CAMY (France) waste water treatment plant, primarily to eliminate phosphorous by physiochemical means, as well as to monitor and test the treated water. The system that has been put in place is a four channel Futura continuous flow analyser from Alliance Instruments (France) to analyse the water entering and leaving the treatment plant. One Futura console is used to measure total phosphorous whilst the other three measure nitrates, nitrites and ammonium.
The analysers are fully automated, giving the operator analytical data in accordance with the requirements of AFNOR [the French national standards body] within one and a half hours, so that reaction times are minimized. The conventional AFNOR method, conducted in a laboratory, takes on average five hours.
