Gas Analyser
Overcoming the Challenges for Continuous Emissions Monitoring in Marine Applications
Apr 04 2016
This May, Parker Kittiwake (UK) will be showcasing their “Procal 2000” emissions analyser and the newly launched “P1200M” data gathering system at the CEM 2016 conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
The Procal 2000 is an in-situ analyser which analyses exhaust gases from the engines and boilers of ships and offshore rigs, monitors up to six gasses simultaneously including SO2, CO2 and NOx. The analyser also monitors the water vapour content of the exhaust gas, enabling the operator to determine the pollutant levels on a wet and dry basis and giving the shipowner a robust reporting tool to demonstrate compliance with ECA regulations. The P2000 uses an in-situ sample cell and does not require the gas to be extracted, mitigating the need for costly, high maintenance sample handling systems and ensuring that accurate real-time data is available instantly Through a detailed analysis of an unmodified, truly representative gas sample, shipowners will have immediate and continual access to the required data to prove compliance.
The Procal 2000 emissions analyser has recently been certified by Lloyd’s Register. The certification provides assurance to shipowners and operators that all available measures have been taken to verify that the analyser provides accurate and robust data to demonstrate compliance with ECA regulations.
At the CEM 2016 conference, Alison Sampson, Technical Services Manager at Parker Kittiwake Procal, will be giving an oral presentation discussing the challenges scrubbed and un-scrubbed In-situ CEMS present in marine applications compared to the more established land based applications and how these have been overcome.
