Eco Expo Asia 2013 Witnesses Record Attendance

Eco Expo Asia, the premier exhibition for green-tech development in Asia, successfully closed its 2013 edition in spectacular fashion, as global green-tech firms showcased their latest products and solutions across a range of sectors. The show took place from 28 – 31 October 2013, once again at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, where it gathered 297 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions. From energy-efficient building solutions to large-scale smokeless industrial incinerators, the fair offered something unique, practical and innovative for all individuals interested in a greener future.

In total, 12,952 professional visitors from 98 countries and regions attended the four-day event, a 12% increase from 2012. Top-ten countries for overseas visitor attendance in ranking order included the Chinese mainland, Macau, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, the US, Malaysia, Korea, Australia and Canada.

Mr Wong Kam-sing, Secretary for the Environment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, officiated the opening ceremony for the 2013 show. He commented: “I am very pleased to see so much great support for Eco Expo Asia from industry, government as well as concerned individuals. The show is all about people who care about the environment. It is truly an honour for the Environment Bureau to once again co-organise this event.”

A significant portion of Eco Expo Asia’s exhibitors displayed industrial- and municipal-level solutions at the 2013 show. Through the collective effort of the show’s organisers and associated partners, representatives from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and other areas across Asia, as well as decision makers from leading international brands were all present, giving exhibitors easier access to the people that could implement their available solutions.

First time exhibitor, Finima Innovations Company Ltd from Hong Kong, joined the fair to promote its innovative solutions for extracting and converting kinetic energy from ocean waves into cost-effective electricity. Dr Kwong Chung Ping, Chief Science Officer shared: “We received a lot of visitors from as far as Sri Lanka, Australia and Europe, who were looking for clean energy solutions. Through participating at Eco Expo Asia, we managed to meet potential customers from markets and applications beyond our imagination and expectations.”

Mr Philip C.B. Yeung, Property Officer at Kai Shing Management Services Limited, a member of Sun Hung Kai Properties Group in Hong Kong, came to Eco Expo Asia in the hopes of finding energy-saving products and LED fixtures for his company’s upcoming property renovation and upgrading projects. He said: “Due to a recent government funding programme, energy efficiency has currently become a key goal for my company. I appreciate Eco Expo Asia for recruiting international exhibitors with all of these advanced technologies for building a greener society."
