CEM 2023 Marks Triumphant Return of Emissions Monitoring Event

Oct 21 2023

ILM Exhibitions is pleased to announce the resounding success of its most recent continuous emissions monitoring conference, CEM 2023, held last month in Barcelona. The event, which was the largest in our history, saw record-breaking attendance with over 600 visitors and our greatest ever number of exhibitors. Both groups expressed overwhelmingly positive experiences at the event, with over 99% of attendees and 95% of exhibitors rating the event as either excellent or good – in fact, not one respondent rated CEM 2023 as needing improvement. Follow the links to hear about what our visitors and exhibitors got out of CEM 2023 in their own words.

Many testimonials emphasise the calibre of our conference speakers. This year, our keynote presentation was given by Eric Aries, the esteemed environmental chemist from the European Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Bureau, sharing insights into upcoming industrial transformations and emission control techniques, particularly under the revised Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). Later in CEM 2023’s inaugural session, Jeff Ryan, Senior Scientist with the EPA, further enriched the program with his 40-year expertise in emissions control technology research, focusing on emerging contaminants like PFAS and the development of corresponding emissions test methods.

But it would have been easy to miss them amongst such a densely-packed three days of informative and authoritative presentations at the very forefront of discussions in continuous emissions monitoring. Tackling everything from environmental issues, to current and future regulations, particularly in India's burgeoning market, to the imminent future of CEMs in Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS). Discussions on evolving monitoring techniques for new pollutants, methods for low-concentration contaminants, and the increasing importance of advanced data handling technologies were particularly well-received.

ILM Exhibitions would like to thank all attendees, speakers, and exhibitors that made CEM 2023 such a rewarding and exciting event. Eyes are already on the next instalments, taking place in Slovenia and Bahrain in 2025, which aim to bring together new groups of stakeholders to facilitate even greater co-operation on this truly global challenge. As CEM 2023 sold out over six months before the event, those interested in exhibiting at CEM Slovenia and CEM Middle East should follow the links to book their stand early.
