Four new directors appointed at ION Science
Jul 25 2022
ION Science recently appointed four directors to bolster their new board and fulfil ION Science’s aspirations for continued growth. The board will be pivotal in providing and implementing ION Science’s long-term strategic growth plan and to sustain the profitable results that the company has enjoyed over the years.
Duncan Johns has been at the helm of ION Science for nearly a quarter of a century. However, the company’s continued growth and expansion has necessitated additional manpower to provide support and deliver pioneering plans for continued growth; it was vital to appoint the right people to the board to head-up and implement ongoing changes and developments.
Steve Newcomb joined ION Science early in 2021 as operations director. Steve has over thirty years of experience within technical manufacturing and engineering in multinational corporate and private SME enterprises. He is highly accomplished in coordinating operations, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing; Steve is also very experienced as a senior board member and he has been promoted to Deputy Managing Director, overseeing every facet of the organisation when Duncan is involved elsewhere.
ION Science recruited Nicki Howard as their head of finance in 2021 and she was subsequently promoted to Finance Director in April 2022. Nicki has a wealth of experience having worked recently as Group Financial Controller for a large manufacturer operating worldwide, experience that is invaluable to ION Science. She also brings to the company nearly two decades of experience in financial control and procedures and having been trained professionally in Pricewaterhouse Coopers’ audit practice – where she worked with various SMEs, along with larger organisations, in many different industries.
Garfay Liu is ION Science’s new R&D Director, having headed up their R&D department for the last three years. He has more than fifteen years of experience in managing and coordinating product development in highly competitive commercial and industrial markets. Garfay has a fine track record of optimising technical development departments so they create successful, cutting-edge technology in high tech markets, this experience, along with his leadership style, will considerably enhance the level of expertise for ION Science’s board of directors.
Jason Evans, joined ION Science late last year as Commercial Director. Jason has worked previously in privately owned SMEs and publicly listed global businesses that provide high performance technologies within sectors such as medical technology and consumer electronics. He brings to ION Science’s board of directors a solid grasp of global business which will help them to drive both shareholder value and growth.
In addition to the new directors, ION Science commissioned a new research and development building last year, which is due to be completed in early 2023. The new building will house dedicated research and development activities to further strengthen ION Science’s role as a leading, global OEM leader for gas detection and PID technology.
