Air Monitoring
New Portable 6 Channel Particle/Mass Monitor
May 22 2015
GrayWolf Sensing Solutions of Shelton, CT, USA introduces a new, portable, 6 channel Particle Counter. This innovative monitor measures particle counts and also displays and logs calculated particle mass concentrations while optionally displaying and logging additional environmental conditions such as Temperature, Relative Humidity, and Carbon Dioxide (CO2).
The PC-4000 Particle/Mass Monitor Plus can be placed to monitor an environment for temporary testing, short-term. It can also be set up for continuous, long-term data-recording. It measures particles sized from 0.3 μm to 25 μm with a flow rate of 2.83 LPM (0.1 CFM). Display 6 size ranges simultaneously; 0.3µm, 0.5µm, 1.0µm, 2.5µm, 5µm, 10.0µm are standard. PM 2.5, PM 10 and TSP may also be concurrently displayed and logged. Alternative size ranges are available. As a “stand-alone” instrument, it can be used as a portable, or integrated into a building automation system via standard RS 232 or optional RS 485 or Wireless 802.11 b/g. In addition to the PC-4000 sensor readings, access flow and sensor status, date of last calibration, serial number, laser on-time and date of manufacture for easy maintenance and warranty management.
The PC-4000 may alternatively be connected to GrayWolf’s AdvancedSense, DirectSense or WolfPack instruments to add additional parameters that log into the same data file as other connected sensors (up to 32 total). This also allows the user to take full advantage of the broad range of features offered by GrayWolf such as; on-board educational info (help videos, an IAQ particle size chart, government/industry particulate guidelines, etc.) and survey documentation (photo, audio, text notes, etc. attached to data).
The PC-4000 is supplied with GrayWolf’s exclusive WolfSense PC Data Transfer and Reporting software. Optionally use GrayWolf’s WolfSense Advanced Report Generator software to produce automated reports that include tables, graphs, prompted and template text, calibration info, equipment lists and much more in a logical structure established by the user. Optional, pre-established IAQ and LEED structured reports are also available. Detailed report generation has never been more efficient.
One unique feature is the advanced power management configuration which allows the instrument to be placed into remote environments, monitoring the air quality for more than a month on a single battery charge. The sleep mode function allows the instrument to sample air and then shut down all processes for a user-defined set time. After the programmed sleep time, the unit wakes up and takes the next sample, repeating this process. Depending on the amount of time between samples and settings and the sample time, the unit can easily run from one to two months on a single charge.
The initially offered CO2 sensor is low cost, and ideal for basic long-term monitoring. A high accuracy, rapid response CO2 sensor (and sensors for other parameters), suitable for IAQ investigations will be offered directly on the unit soon. Meanwhile, the PC-4000 may be interfaced to GrayWolf’s DirectSense, AdvancedSense or WolfPack monitors, where advanced CO2 and TVOC sensor technology (and many other sensors) is already available.
The PC-4000 particle counters meet ISO 21501-4 and JIS B9921. The unit ensures compliance with an on-board pulse height analyser. Multiple languages will be available later this year (Spanish/French/German/Italian). It is supported worldwide through GrayWolf’s extensive network of distributors, and GrayWolf’s USA and Ireland service centers.
