Comprehensive Program to Safeguard Drinking Water of Major Israeli City
Jul 29 2009
Whitewater Security (Israel) announces the successful completion of the first phase of a comprehensive three-phase program to safeguard the drinking water of a major city in Israel. The company’s groundbreaking approach combines an individually tailored security plan with cutting-edge tools and expert training that enables water authorities to take immediate full control, online in real time, of every aspect - and every inch - of their water supply systems - including the pinpoint monitoring of specific locations within cities.
Protecting against both deliberate and accidental contamination, the program covers all areas of water crisis management. An advanced Decision Support System aids in the planning of system design and component placement, as well as damage control in the case of actual contamination. Based on an in-depth needs analysis, Whitewater’s end-to-end, fully integrated solution is custom-designed and implemented by some of the world’s leading security specialists, in order to minimize infrastructure vulnerability and ensure a continuous supply of safe, high quality water. It is no coincidence that the first company to offer this revolutionary, completely integrated and all-encompassing solution is based in Israel - a country globally respected for its technological superiority in both security and water technologies, and acknowledged for its wide-ranging expertise - developed over decades of defending its population against the threats of terror in general, and threats against its water supply in particular. Whitewater utilizes the most advanced Israeli technologies from both fields, and leverages the deep industry knowledge accumulated by its team during years of hands-on military experience. These specialists profoundly understand the meaning of today’s most serious threats - and the critical importance of security. Integrating powerful preparedness and defensive security programs, Whitewater works closely with Mekorot, Israel’s national water utility, and with Magal, an internationally recognized security company - and is the leading initiator of the Israeli Water Security Project.
Israeli City Undergoes Complete Risk Evaluation for Water Contamination: The municipal project in Israel was undertaken by Whitewater in cooperation with Mekorot, Israel’s national water company. Having successfully completed the first stage, a comprehensive risk evaluation, the company will now develop a tailor-made security program for the city, followed by the third and final stage - implementation and support. During the pilot, Whitewater Security and Mekorot were joined by the Technological Research Institute of Ben-Gurion University and the Israel Standards Institute - leaders in the area of international standards for water safety. The object of the first phase of the project - Vulnerability Assessment - was to evaluate the vulnerability of the entire area over which the municipal authority is responsible. This stage involved identifying critical locations, evaluating all aspects and components of the system, and mapping threats - including probability of occurrence, consequences, and solution feasibility.Digital Edition
