Get Accurate Discharge Rates in Semi-Filled Pipes with New Flow Meter
Sep 07 2016
Accurate flow, respectively discharge measurements in partially or semi-filled pipes are essential for any wastewater treatment plant or municipal sewer and storm water system. It determines the system’s overall efficient operation. Still, it might not always be an easy task. SOMMER Messtechnik (Austria), well-known expert for environmental monitoring and non-contact discharge measurement equipment, now launched its new SQ radar flow meter which is ideally suited for use in semi-filled pipes and sewer channel networks.
Variable storm water flows or over-sized community systems built for future growth are quite common when it comes to accurate flow measurement in pipes and sewer channels. The challenge is to get good results at different water levels in the pipe regardless of whether it is half full, less or more. The new SQ flow meter by SOMMER Messtechnik perfectly covers these various situations since it measures both, flow velocity and water level, without direct contact to the water using highly innovative radar and ultrasonic technology. The SQ is installed outside the water in or above non-pressured pipes and channels with diameters from as little as 300mm upwards. It therefore can measure already very little discharge rates, continuously and reliable, and remains free from soiling and deposits. The readings are not affected by solids in the liquid which is why it is such a great solution for industrial, storm and waste water applications.
