Flow Measurement Solutions Gain MCERTS Certification

Following a rigorous testing and assessment process, Siemens UK & Ireland has achieved further certification under the Environment Agency led monitoring certification scheme across its flow measuring portfolio, with its clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter technology the latest to gain MCERTS accreditation.

The SITRANS FUS 1010 (standard), FUS 1010 (portable) and FST 020 clamp-on monitoring solutions are newly verified under the scheme, meaning Siemens is now the first solutions provider to gain MCERTS accreditation across three different flow measurement technologies.

As the most versatile clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters available, the FUS 1010 models utilise multi-channel technology across raw, sewage and potable water processes. They can also be used in condensers, chillers, nuclear, process control and batching processes, while the FST 020 system offers an optimal and affordable alternative to more complex flow measurement solutions, delivering accuracy in the 0.5% to 1.0% range.

With increasing reliance and value placed on water data, the use of clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters is fast growing and MCERTS approval is essential in many applications.

The recent approvals build on Siemens’ existing portfolio of MCERTS standard solutions for water-related applications; in recent years the SITRANS LUT430 and 440 ultrasonic level instruments for open channel flow measurement have gained MCERTS certification. Siemens was the first solutions provider to be accredited for this flow measuring technology.

In addition, Siemens holds MCERTS accreditation across its SITRANS electromagnetic flow meters for closed pipe installations. The MAG 5100 W sensor for ground, drinking, cooling and waste water processes, plus sewage and sludge applications, along with the MAG 3100 for chemical and process industries and the MAG8000 battery powered sensor for stand-alone water applications, all hold the MCERTS standard.

John Marsh, water team business development manager, Siemens UK & Ireland comments: “MCERTS approved technologies provide customers with the confidence that they are using independently verified solutions and are equipped to meet stringent industry regulations, while also bolstering their sustainability credentials, adding real value to the overall operation. With our clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter, ultrasonic level sensors for open channel flow measurement and electromagnetic flow meter ranges all approved, we’re equipped to offer customers the very best in sustainable technology, whatever the flow being measured.

“Our ongoing partnerships with Celtic Process Controls, Z-TECH and Insteco enable us to set industry benchmarks for flow meter technology time and time again and we look forward to continuing our work with these specialists to ensure any new monitoring technologies meet the MCERTS standard.”
