Half-a-million pumping cycles
Mar 13 2013
“Still going strong with well over 500,000 pumping cycles,” so says landfill specialist, H&J Pipe Jointing Services, about the AP3 AutoPump from Geotech. H&J Pipe Jointing Services has installed and maintains AP3 pumps on many landfill sites across the UK. These pneumatic, positive air displacement pumps work unattended day and night, year after year on leachate recirculation and condensate removal from gas lines.
Just a quick clean
At Chesterfield-based H&J Pipe Jointing Services, Colin Jones said, "We were looking to supply pumps that were fit for purpose and that did the job, and after trying other brands we soon realised that the AP range are the best on the market by far. The AP range includes the most reliable pumps I have ever supplied. With a lot of the units all I need to do is an annual service, which in most cases is just a quick clean and off they go again for another year."
“Since we were formed in 1997, at H&J Pipe Jointing Services, we pride ourselves in supplying the best products that we can,” he added.
Best gets even better
The strength and reliability of the AutoPumps range comes from years of product design and development and using materials in the components which can withstand the harsh acidic, hot, abrasive and very dirty environments found in landfill leachate. To further improve this pump range, already acknowledged as excellent, is the recent arrival of the newly engineered AP4+ pump.
Even easier and a 5-year warranty
Now made of stainless steel with engineering-strength plastic, AP4+ pumps are even easier to strip, clean and re-assemble. The warranty increases to five years from three, reflecting the already value-giving proven performance of these renowned air-powered, ATEX Zone 0 certified AutoPumps. The improvements extend the service lifetime of the pump and broaden the range of its applications in extreme environmental conditions in landfill and remediation. Bottom or top-fill, the 9.1cm diameter submersible pumps are from 70 cm to 131 cm long and offer a maximum flow of 26.5-69 l/m at depths of 76m with actuation levels from 39-113cm depending on model.
Material benefits
All internal AP4+ non-metallic parts are now made with PVDF, a high-grade engineering plastic used for its increased strength at high temperatures and broader resistance to chemicals, including the acidic and oxidising cleaning products used during maintenance. All stainless steel parts have been upgraded to 304 grade for its improved resistance to corrosion. These new materials help the pumps perform even more reliably in challenging environments for which they are designed.
Counting on it
For H&J Pipe Jointing Services and anyone installing and maintaining leachate pumps, the Geotech AutoPump AP range offers dependable, reliable and proven products. They help ensure liquid levels are assuredly maintained to meet environmental agencies’ and operator licence conditions. Through millions of pumping cycles, that is something H&J Pipe Jointing Services knows it can count on.
