Award Recognises Innovative Contribution to Agriculture and Water Management

Aug 23 2012

Observant (Australia) was crowned the winner of the Irrigation Australia 2012 New Product/Innovation Award for their next generation C3 remote water monitoring system at the Irrigation Australia annual awards night in Adelaide recently.

In taking home the prestigious accolade, the C3 was recognised for its originality, quality of design, scope for acceptance by the market, water and energy efficiency contribution, and potential to reduce environmental impact through water savings.

The evolution of the C2 to the C3 was inspired by its customer’s needs in managing their equipment and conducting maintenance on their properties.

After 18 months of development and launching to market in September 2012, the C3 will meet customers’ demands for a flexible, simple, reliable, affordable method to remotely manage water systems.

Farmers and irrigators alike will no longer have to physically drive around their land, but use simple and reliable tracking giving them a single viewpoint of their property. Available in both modular and stand-alone systems, the C3 takes the flexibility of Observant’s remote monitoring equipment to the next level, and provides a higher quality device at a more affordable price.

The Observant C3 gives farmers and irrigators, in some of Australia’s most isolated areas, a solution to remotely manage a large range of equipment using wireless communications. Monitoring and managing water systems can be as flexible as looking at a smart phone or logging into Observant Global via the web.

Matthew Pryor, CEO of Observant is thrilled to have Observant acknowledged for their achievement.

‘The award is a great tribute to the entire Observant team for the ongoing commitment to providing our customers with flexible and simple solutions to manage their water resources. I am proud to be part of such a talented and dynamic team,’ said Matthew.

In presenting the award to the designer of the C3, Design Engineer, Anthony Kahl, Trevor LeBreton, General Manager of Irrigation Australia acknowledged Observant’s contribution to the agribusiness and water management industries.

‘We were delighted to present Observant with this award for their innovative approach to new product development. This recognition was due in large part to the considerable benefits, the businesses using Observant systems are reaping.’

‘Our research identified that those who have moved across to Observant systems are realising significant savings across associated labour, fuel, mileage and water loss costs as a result,’ commented Mr LeBreton.
