Innovative Dissolved Oxygen Handheld with Smartphone Application
Jul 02 2013
In-Situ Inc. (UK) have announced the new smarTROLL Rugged Dissolved Oxygen (RDO) Handheld and iSitu Smartphone Application for environmental monitoring applications. Ideal for spot checking, the smarTROLL RDO Handheld can be used for surface-water monitoring applications that require EPA-approved DO methods. No training time is required to use the probe or the intuitive smartphone application. Technicians can instantly read results by simply using a smartphone—no bulky handheld meter is required.
Environmental professionals and NPDES permit holders can use the smarTROLL RDO Handheld to quickly assess DO levels in natural and effluent waters. The smarTROLL RDO Handheld can be used for ambient spot checks, dam water monitoring, effluent monitoring, and stormwater management.
In-Situ Inc.’s unique iSitu App, designed to run on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, makes it easy to email data instantly to colleagues and to log site-specific data to a smartphone. By using readily available smartphone technology, instead of proprietary meters, environmental professionals reduce their overall cost of ownership. The smarTROLL RDO System includes a titanium probe with the optical RDO Sensor and a clip-on battery pack with Bluetooth Wireless Technology. System components also work with the new smarTROLL Multiparameter Handheld.
“Time and money are valuable resources, and In-Situ Inc. understands that environmental professionals need answers quickly and at their fingertips,” said Jon Firooz, Vice President of R&D and Marketing. “By developing an iPhone app that works seamlessly with our new DO probe, the smartphone now doubles as a handheld meter, and that’s a smart move for a mobile workforce.”
The RDO Sensor lowers the total cost of acquiring high-quality data by significantly reducing time required for maintenance and calibration. In-Situ Inc.’s patented RDO Sensor essentially renders traditional electrodes obsolete.
