Highlights in the IFAT Events Program

Mar 15 2012

IFAT ENTSORGA 2012 (Germany), which takes place from May 7 to 11 in Munich, is putting on a high-caliber events program covering a broad and diverse range of topics of importance to the sector: theme specials, panel discussions and exhibitor presentations – are some of the highlights awaiting attendees at the Trade Fair for Water, Sewage, Waste and Raw Materials Management.

One of the highlights is a series of "Practical Days" organized by the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) on the open-air site at the exhibition center. Here visitors can see – live and in action – a range of shredders and sorting machines from different manufacturers.

A dedicated area on the open-air site is the place to see a special demonstration of modern, special-purpose vehicle solutions. This is an opportunity to review, in action, all the latest developments in vehicles for waste collection and disposal, street cleaning and winter road services, plus diverse other specialized functions. At a joint stand at the West Entrance will be the "Meeting Point Future". Here a total of 20 universities and colleges will be presenting broad-ranging insights into the training and education activities that are shaping the environmental technology of tomorrow.

UN-Water coordinates the activities on the subject of water of more than two dozen UN organizations and programs, supporting them in achieving their goals and securing the success of their work. At IFAT ENTSORGA, UN-Water, together with its member and partner organizations, will be presenting the various programs and explaining their focus. As well as the presentation at its booth at the fair, UN-Water will also be holding seminars at IFAT ENTSORGA on the themes of "Water Re-use in Agriculture" and "Energy and Water".

Spread over five "theme stations" and boasting a number of special exhibits, this display presents an in-depth review of the threats to water supplies and of ways in which this vital resource can be protected.
