Laboratory robot delivers cost effective, fully automated water analysis
Jun 08 2016
The Hach® AP3900 Laboratory Robot offers a modular concept for analysis to deliver laboratory efficiencies. The basic version processes the critical parameters of COD, total P, total N, Ammonium, Nitrate and Nitrite in parallel using pre-programmed Hach LCK Cuvette Tests. The control software ensures the optimal sequence for processing all samples to minimise total time to results through sample preparation, digestion of complex samples, waiting times and measurement. Additional samples can be added at any time, even when the sequence is running and the current status of the analysis is accessible any time with a simple mouse click. Rapid yet simple, even untrained users are able to enter all necessary information to the system due to the easy-to-use software.
- Saves time and costs
- Increases productivity and flexibility
- Highest precision and accuracy due to automated procedures
- Parallel execution of different samples and methods
- Reliable by complete traceability of results
- High safety standard
- Cost effective for 20 or more tests per day.
How the AP3900 Laboratory Robot helped an industrial customer improve efficiency
A centralised laboratory analysing water samples from their industrial processes was challenged with decreasing analysis and reporting time while ensuring practical and reporting compliance with environmental regulations. The analysis needed to be accurate, free from human error while ensuring data integrity. The laboratory also has to comply with the increasingly stringent health and safety regulations.
With half of the required analyses being regular water tests the obvious solution was to introduce automation. The Hach AP3900 is an automated system capable of handling multiple samples and multiple analyses offering accurate and repeatable results, sample preparation, optimised processing and data management; all driven by easy to use software.
The investment in a Hach AP3900 Automated System for water analyses enabled the site to increase throughput whilst reducing associated technician resources by 30%, these resources being transferred to important research work. In addition to increased analysis capacity, results integrity and reliability were also improved.
