Button-free chlorine analyser provides water industry with state-of the art performance, economy, low maintenance and simple operation

Electro-Chemical Devices’ (ECD) FC80 Series Chlorine Analyser provides water plant engineers and technicians with hassle-free and precise free chlorine measurement, while eliminating the need for constant and tiresome checks to find out if the sensor reagents need changing.

This digital plug-n-play instrument is quick and easy to install; it features a well-conceived panel mount design with integrated flow control, thereby avoiding any necessity for complex pressure regulators and rotometers. ECD’s highly intelligent S80 pH Sensor has been built into the device to provide automated pH compensation and therefore owners do not need to pay for expensive reagents or sensor life-cycle costs and maintenance work is kept to a minimum.

ECD also offer an FM approved and ATEX/IECEx compliant transmitter design. The robust FCX80 Analyser configuration is approved for operation in hazardous locations such as water treatment areas, where combustible gases are often present.

The versatile and reliable FC80 Analyser Series monitors free chlorine in drinking water from 0.05 – 20 ppm chlorine as the standard range, or 0.01 - 5.00 ppm with the low range sensor. The FC80 is compliant with a variety of international standards for drinking water monitoring. In fact, the FC80 can be used in a host of demanding applications, such as rinse water, cooling water or other freshwater sampling.

ECD created the FC80 range to provide a total measurement solution. All that is needed is included in the FC80 family’s complete panel mount design kit, which includes a constant head flow control device, ECD’s S80 or S88 pH sensors, the T80 analyser/transmitter and the chlorine sensor. The operator simply connects the sample and drain lines, as well as the power and outputs, and it is good to go. Calibration is carried out by DPD comparison.

This highly advanced range of water monitors boasts a smart digital design featuring an amperometric sensor. This sensor solely measures the hypochlorous acid component of the free chlorine sample and the instrument works out the balance utilising either the measured pH or a user-specified fixed value. ECD’s pH sensor provides precise compensation for samples with pH levels between 6 and 9, thereby ending the need for expensive sample conditioning systems to control the solution’s pH level.

The flexible FC80 Analyser comes with either 110-240 VAC or 24 VDC power. It includes a highly intuitive user interface, parameters can be displayed graphically with user defined line, gauge or bar graphs. The standard configuration has two 4-20 mA outputs, three alarm relays and a MODBUS RTU.

The FC80 is available with an optional Auto Clean function featuring a solenoid-actuated spray cleaner that uses either 30 psi process water or air and user-friendly timer controls to choose the time and duration of the cleaning procedure.
