New Framework Agreement with Thames Water Secured
Sep 12 2011
Manchester electrochemical sensor manufacturer Analytical Technology (UK ) announces that it has been awarded the framework agreement to supply and install triple validated chlorine monitoring systems to Thames Water. The new chlorine monitoring systems will replace Thames’ existing instrumentation, improving process control and enabling considerable operational and maintenance savings in line with current company strategy. The new framework agreement reinforces Analytical Technology’s position as a leading provider of water monitoring instrumentation to many of the UK’s largest utility companies.
Following a lengthy and detailed decision-making process, Analytical Technology was awarded the framework agreement by Thames Water in February 2011, beating off competition from six of the world’s leading providers. The company scored significantly higher than its competitors in all three characteristics on which the award was based, achieving scores 20% higher than all other companies in areas including commercial, technical and term and conditions of trade (T&C). Thames Water currently has the UK’s largest installed base of chlorine monitors and is investing in the new technology during AMP 5, the asset management plan period between 2010 and 2015. Due to the large size of the order, the new framework agreement was jointly awarded to both Analytical Technology and Siemens.
Analytical Technology launched its UK and Europe business in 1998 and the company has enjoyed growing success, now providing compliant instrumentation to most UK water providers and leading the way in developing reliable and cost-effective monitoring systems. Developing and producing the highest quality instruments available, Analytical Technology recently added the Profibus DP standard to its monitoring systems, enabling water and wastewater treatment plants to optimise maintenance and achieve a high level of confidence in chlorine measurement. The triple validated chlorine monitoring systems selected by Thames Water will enable them to improve process control and make great savings over the whole life of the asset.
Garry Tabor, Sales Manager Europe at Analytical Technology, comments: “Our goal was clear; Analytical Technology set out to be the UK’s number one supplier of chlorine monitoring systems and this new framework agreement is a great reward for our dedicated team. We have been working with all the UK’s major water companies for some time and have been able to pass on operational costs which amount to hundreds of thousands of pounds. This is backed up by our dedication to providing top quality service to our customers, which includes personalised training programmes and maintenance services. This award confirms our claims that Analytical Technology’s chlorine monitors are the best on the market, with no rivals either technically or commercially.”
In addition to Thames Water, Analytical Technology has the frameworks to supply chlorine monitors to Scottish Water, United Utilities, South West Water and Yorkshire Water.
