New Portable Optical Dissolved Oxygen System
Mar 17 2011
Its slick black meter features AQUAREAD’s (www.aquaread.co.uk) intuitive user interface, specifically designed to simplify use in the field. The rugged meter houses an air pressure sensor used in automated compensation, along with the GPS receiver found in all of AQUAREAD’s portable field equipment. Optical technology has many advantages over membrane based electrodes such as a 2 year cap life, no filling solution and infrequent calibration.
The AquaPlus probe itself is slim at only 2.4cm in diameter. The sturdy aluminium sleeve protects the probe’s single electrode, on which you will find AQUAREAD’s nanoengineered Optical DO sensor technology, along with conductivity and temperature sensors. The inclusion of a conductivity sensor is a novel approach from AQUAREAD. This sensor enables fully automated compensation for salinity; a parameter calculated from the conductivity. This feature leads to highly accurate % saturation readings which are fully compensated and require no additional user input.
The AQUAPLUS measures Optical DO% saturation, Optical DO mg/L, Conductivity, Total dissolved solids, Resistivity, Salinity, Seawater specific gravity, Temperature, Air pressure, Height above MSL, Time, Date, Latitude and Longitude, and has a wide range of applications from fish farming to brewing, along with surface, ground and waste water monitoring.
