ABB to Showcase Latest Technologies at WWEM 2012 Exhibition

ABB Limited (UK) will be exhibiting a selection of its latest instrumentation and analytical equipment and systems at Water, Wastewater and Environmental Monitoring (WWEM) 2012 on the 7th and 8thNovember at The International Centre, Telford.

Visitors to the stand (stands 108 and 109) will be able to see a fully automated interactive display demonstrating how ABB's technologies can be integrated to help monitor and control water supplies. It features various examples of ABB's instrumentation portfolio controlled by ABB's latest PLC technology with Profibus and Ethernet communications technology.

Amongst the wide range of other products on show will be ABB’s Aztec 600 colorimetric and newly launched Ion-Selective Electrode (ISE) potable water quality analysers. Using these analysers, operators can establish a quick and accurate measurement of a range of parameters, including aluminium, iron, manganese, phosphate, colour, fluoride and high low and high level ammonia.

Simple to operate and maintain, the Aztec range incorporates a host of features such as automatic two point calibration, self-cleaning functionality and automatic sample dilution. The inherent product design and auto-calibrating features mean that maintenance is typically only required annually, compared to every three months with some units on the market.

Also on display will be ABB’s MCERTified WaterMaster flowmeter. Designed specifically for the water and wastewater market, it features a revolutionary octagonal flow sensor and ABB’s innovative VeriMaster verification system. Accompanying it will be the latest version of ABB’s highly successful AquaMaster electromagnetic flowmeter. Able to use either solar or wind-powered energy in addition to battery and mains power, the AquaMaster 3 is ideal for water billing and leakage applications in virtually any location.

The AquaMaster 3 also features GSM-SMS technology, enabling it to be contacted using a PC, or through a mobile phone via SMS messaging, providing operators with instant remote access to accurate flow data.

These products will be joined by ABB’s range of pressure and temperature measurement products for use around water and wastewater treatment processes, plus examples of ABB’s recorder products including the SM500F, the world’s first field mountable videographic data recorder. Capable of being installed anywhere, such as a panel, wall or pipe with no additional cost, the SM500F takes recording out of the control room and offers users localised access to operational data. Its fully sealed IP66 and NEMA 4X enclosure provides full protection against water and dust ingress.

Visitors will also get the chance to benefit from ABB’s expertise in online potable water quality measurement by attending a workshop session on Wednesday 7th November (also repeated on Thursday 8th November), which will be hosted by Jon Penn, ABB’s Global Product Manager for Continuous Water Analysis. Starting at 10am in Room 8 on 7th November and 2.30pm in Room 4 on 8th November, the workshop will focus on the topic of ‘Optimising surface water treatment using online instrumentation’. It will explain how online monitoring and control can help operators to improve the sustainability, cost efficiency and safety of coagulation treatment processes.
