Wastewater plant 'to be upgraded'
Aug 10 2009
Staff from Seafield wastewater treatment works near Edinburgh have contracted water quality firm Biwater Treatment to upgrade the existing inlet works, replace the fine screens, handle the screening and replace the grit classification arrangement at the plant.
Martin Beale, Biwater Treatment operations manager for Scotland, said that working with its new client will give the company a chance to improve its reputation in the Scottish marketplace.
"The Seafield project has provided Biwater Treatment with an opportunity outside of normal regulatory programmes in Scotland, albeit still in the water industry," he said.
In related news, the Thanh Nien newspaper recently reported that Asian pig breeder San Miguel Pure Foods Vietnam was fined VND1.3 billion (£44,000) for spilling 200,000 cubic metres of wastewater into the Thi Tinh river located in the Binh Duong Province of Vietnam.
