New high-performance pH, ORP, and conductivity transmitters for industrial water quality applications

ABB have recently launched the low powered, yet high performance AWT210 plug and play, single-channel 2-wire transmitter for pH, ORP, and conductivity measurement and control in hazardous industrial locations. These transmitters are the perfect solution for water quality analysis in demanding sectors such as the wastewater treatment, chemical/petrochemical, power, pulp and paper and marine industries.

These highly user-friendly pH/ORP/p-ION transmitters are simple to set-up, configure and upgrade thanks to ABB’s plug and play, interchangeable sensor and communication modules which can be quickly and easily swapped in the field through the transmitter’s hinged door. This feature also eliminates the need to buy additional transmitter units, reduces downtime and operator safety. This modular transmitter format allows the same unit to be operated with pH, redox (ORP) and ion-selective sensors as well as two- and four-electrode and toroidal conductivity sensors.

With its single button calibration, there is no need for specialist technicians to commission or operate the instrument, which facilitates further cost savings in instalment, commissioning and maintenance.

The AWT features a top-quality, intuitive interface featuring easy navigation and Windows™-style scrolling menus, giving the user clear and up-to-date measurement, diagnostic and audit data. Sensor data can be obtained easily in-situ through the instrument’s display or communicated via HART, PROFIBUS or FOUNDATION TM Fieldbus communication protocols to a control centre.

ABB have also incorporated extra security measures to evade tampering or unauthorised access to data. Authorised operators need to enter passwords before being able to calibrate, change settings and access data – details of any changes are stored in an audit trail. Further multi-level security features can limit operators to tasks only within their remit, permit read-only access and specify each operator’s security access level.

The AWT210, available in a corrosion resistant polycarbonate or robust metal housing, can be deployed almost anywhere; operators have a choice of wall, pipe or panel mounting.  This versatile ph. ORP and conductivity transmitter has ATEX/IECEx as well as cFMus certification making it ideal for standard and hazardous environments.
