Water quality efforts mark end of Obama?s summer
Sep 04 2009
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it will celebrate the occasion by holding an Urban Waters Service Day on September 12th at the Anacostia river in Bladensburg, Maryland.
EPA employees will join the Anacostia Watershed Society in cleaning up the waterway and volunteers from the community are invited to participate in the activity.
Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Summer of Service - also known as United We Serve - is Obama's national call to service, which challenges all US citizens to engage in sustained, collaborative and focused service in their communities.
In related news, the EPA confirmed earlier this week that it bestowed an award on the Town of Alpine wastewater utility for its construction of a new wastewater treatment facility and sewage collection system.
