On Site Analysis for TPH and PAH Gets Green Light
Nov 10 2015
The QED HC-1 TPH and PAH analyser from QROS Ltd (UK) has recently been approved by the North Carolina Dept for Transportation and Dept of Environment as a replacement for Method 8015 for TPH. This is the first time an on site analyser has been given equivalence to an accredited laboratory method. The US evaluation showed project analytical costs reduced by as much as 80% when using the QED with results equivalent to the reference laboratory.
In the UK, recent changes to the MCERTS policy statement (June 2015) allows results from suitable on site analysis methods like the QED HC-1 to be used as part of the regulatory data package.
The QED HC-1 gives quantitative results for total BTEX, GRO, DRO, TPH, total aromatics, sum 16 EPA PAHs and BaP in a single 5 minute analysis and provides hydrocarbon identification, eg diesel, creosote, kerosene, bitumen etc. It is very easy to use and uses no environmentally hazardous reagents.
