Highly Flexible Datalogger with Universal Terminals Launched

Sep 18 2014

Campbell Scientific (UK) is excited to announce the release of the CR6 Measurement and Control Datalogger. The CR6 combines the latest technology with tried and tested features from Campbell Scientific’s existing datalogger range to offer unsurpassed flexibility, high-quality measurements, substantial functionality, rugged and compact design, high performance and low power requirements.

The CR6 uniquely features new Universal Terminals (UTs) making the CR6 highly versatile, suiting many different applications, as well as applications with changing requirements. These UTs are software configurable to be analogue or digital, input or outputs. The CR6 also features removable terminal blocks for ease of wiring, troubleshooting, or rewiring inside an enclosure.

The CR6 also provides integrated functionality previously requiring additional system peripherals. This includes integrated vibrating wire measurements, integrated webserver, Ethernet 10/100, RS-232 and RS-485 support, built-in microSD memory card storage, USB connectivity, and an on-board charger for power conditioning.

A new CDM port is included which is a high speed connection for Campbell Distributed Modules such as the existing CDM-VW300 dynamic vibrating wire module but also other expansion modules planned to come.

This compact datalogger has a fast processor capable of rapid communication and high scan rates. Using a 24-bit analogue-to-digital sigma-delta converter, the CR6 provides high analogue input accuracy and resolution (24 bit effective). Using internal power management, the CR6 varies its power consumption to match the demand of the application or program making it extremely power efficient. The CR6 can be powered directly by solar panel, dc power supply, ac power adapter, 12 V battery, or USB connection.

The CR6 sits alongside and is fully compatible with current Campbell Scientific dataloggers sharing the same CRBasic programming language and operating system. There are no plans to discontinue any other logger.
