Safety Glasses Get a Makeover
May 22 2014
Widely regarded as the most successful industrial safety spectacle ever produced, and certainly one of the most copied by manufacturers around the world, the classic uvex (UK) astrospec has been born again, taking style, technology, comfort, functionality and versatility to another level.
uvex’s makeover of the astrospec includes: A complete redesign, new soft-grip technology for ear-pieces, a secure and pressure-free fit, innovative brow grip capability, the latest hinge technology, increased comfort over long periods of wear, adjustable inclination with flexible, wraparound side arms, panoramic polycarbonate lens plus side protectors, a choice of uvex scratch- and permanent fog-resistant lens coatings, and a ventilated labyrinth seal.
The original uvex astrospec has been trusted by customers for over 20 years, simply because it is the most unpretentious, straightforward and adaptable safety spectacle in the market and does exactly what it is intended to do – protect the wearer’s eyes from harm in the way they would expect.
And now, with its added features and new design, the uvex astrospec 2.0 is even more dependable. Classic design features such as the central section arc have been retained, so users need not worry that their beloved uvex astrospec spectacle has been changed too much in the process of enhancement.
The uvex astrospec 2.0 has also just won the internationally recognised Red Dot: Product Design Award 2014. The panel of international experts discussed and evaluated 4,815 entries from 53 countries. Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, on the decision process in the Red Dot Award: “The 40 experts assessed the quality of the entries with the utmost care and attention. Due to their backgrounds, they also assessed the special cultural aspects of the designs from 53 countries.” Only designs that demonstrated a high level of quality and innovation won an award.
