VOC Detectors Enhanced Following Customer Research
Feb 22 2016
As a result of extensive customer research in line with its commitment to continuous product development and innovation, Ion Science (UK) has introduced a new short probe for its range of well-proven, handheld Tiger VOC (volatile organic compound) detectors.
Feedback from the company’s customers who widely use the popular Tiger PID (photoionisation detectors) for global occupational health and environmental monitoring applications has resulted in Ion Science introducing a series of enhancements to the standard short probe supplied with its Tiger and Tiger LT models.
Featuring a more robust design for increased sideways impact resistance, the new probe is easier to service and can be directly connected to Luer devices, which are commonly used in the medical device market, and now accepts 4mm and ¼ inch ID pipe push fit. A new leak-proof seal has also been developed to remain within the filter cap.
All new Tiger and TigerLT instruments will now be manufactured using the new system comprising Probe, Seal and Filter Clamp, but it can also be retrofitted to existing devices. Ion Science has also created kits that allow older instruments to be upgraded.
With a dynamic detection range of 1 parts per billion (ppb) to 20,000 parts per million (ppm)*, the Ion Science Tiger has the widest measurement range of any other VOC instrument on the market.
The company’s entry-level Tiger LT was launched last summer and is a streamlined, low cost version of Tiger. Ideal for conducting environmental surveys, it offers a detection range of 0.1 – 5,000 ppm utilising a standard two-point calibration protocol.
Incorporating Ion Science’s market-leading PID technology with advanced patented fence electrode system, the Tiger’s three-electrode format ensures increased resistance to humidity and contamination for ultimate reliability and accuracy in the field, as well as considerable reducing drift issues and extending run time.
Ready to use, straight out of the box, the Tiger does not require complicated set up procedures via a PC to perform basic functions and provides the best available VOC detection and software features.
Ion Science’s Tiger also has the fastest response time on the market of just two seconds and can be connected directly to a PC via the USB offering extremely fast data download capabilities.
The Tiger range has been specially developed by Ion Science to allow the operator easy access to the lamp and sensor in minutes, and for the safe replacement of batteries in hazardous environments. The Intrinsically Safe (IS) instruments also meet ATEX, IECEx, UL and CSA standards and are IP65 rated against water ingress.
