Two men fined 'for breaching environmental legislation'
Oct 09 2009
Neil Bland, 33, and Liaqat Hussein, 50, were fined £2,515 and £3,015 respectively for dumping up to 20 skip loads of waste on to the car park of a former rest home.
It is alleged that Hussein gave the orders, while Bland carried out the offence - which the court heard was motivated by financial reasons - by hiring a digger and a carrier firm to help with the work.
However, Bland paid approximately £20,000 for the site to be cleared after the event.
The two workers pleaded guilty at Bradford Magistrates Court to four controlled waste offences, which were all perpetrated on or before June 6th 2008.
In related news, the operators of Mid UK Recycling were recently prosecuted by the Environment Agency for allowing bad smells to escape from the firm's Caythorpe site.
