Ground-Breaking ‘Green’ Gas Sensors Developed
Oct 18 2013
Honeywell company City Technology (UK) has collaborated with Systronik, a leading German emissions gas analyser manufacturer, to create a new gas sensor range; two innovative products named 4OX eco LP and 5OXeco that detect oxygen levels. These sensors will be crucial to the development of the flue gas emissions testing industry.
The innovations exhibited by the 4OXeco LP and 5OXeco sensors, build on City’s well-established lead-free fuel cell technology. For example, the sensors are long-life, require little power to operate and have a high resistance to cross-contamination from other common flue gases, providing improved operational reliability. All this means the overall cost of running an maintaining flue gas analysers will be reduced.
Richard Skoberla, the Managing Director of Systronik, considers one the main advantages of their partnership with City, apart from their excellent quality and immediacy of delivery, is that City is a company that prides itself on “staying ahead of the curve” in terms of innovation.
Other innovative products that City is releasing include: The A5F+ hydrogen compensated high range CO sensor, developed primarily for the statutory market, particularly in Germany, where very accurate readings of the CO levels in flue gases, without any cross interference from hydrogen, are required; The 4F and 4MF CO sensors, developed to meet some of the most stringent operating requirements in flue gas sensing. With such a pedigree, these sensors, optimised for use in the emissions market, bring an unparalleled degree of performance and confidence for the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and user.
This next generation of emission sensors will help instrument manufacturers reduce the Total Lifetime Cost of Ownership for end users, minimise premature sensor failures and support the trend towards physically smaller and less power-hungry instruments. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers will also benefit from reduced response and recovery times, better temperature stability, reduced start-up times and improved reliability.
