Miniaturized Low Power CO2 Sensor Launched into the Gas Detection Market

GSS are proud to announce their new MinIR CO2 sensor, combining integrated electronics and LED/PD technology, with volume production available in March 2015. MinIR is an ultra low power (5mW), high performance, nominal 20mm diameter, CO2 sensor, ideally suited for battery operation and portable instruments.

GSS have integrated unique patented mid infra-red light source and detector technology into innovative optics and signal processing, to produce market leading CO2 Sensors.

Alan Henderson, Managing Director and Co-founder of GSS, says "Our solid state NDIR sensors have an ultra-low power consumption and fast switch-on time, highly desirable features for battery and energy harvesting applications."

Ultra-low Power

GSS’ range of ultra low power CO2 sensors include the COZIR sensor which has an extremely low, continuous power consumption of 3.5mW making it the market leader in low power carbon dioxide sensing.

GSS’ COZIR and MinIR sensors have virtually no warm up time: the sensors can be switched on and a measurement taken in just 1.2 seconds. In typical applications, sensors are switched on for just 5 seconds. This results in an extremely low energy consumption of 6 to 17.5mJ per measurement.
