New Four Channel Detector for Gas Analysis Now Available
Nov 28 2014
The InfraTec GmbH (Germany) Infrarotsensorik und Messtechnik company from Dresden has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing pyroelectric infrared detectors. In 2002, a new product line with integrated CMOS preamplifier technology was successfully launched on the market. In contrast to conventional equipment, the detectors with JFET source tracking capabilities can operate in current mode and provide, for example, a great time response advantages for users. Due to the very high signal voltage – up to several 100 mV – they can easily be coupled with a microcontroller.
This product line with integrated CMOS preamplifier has included single-channel detectors for single-supply operation for some years. The extremely low power consumption of 40 μW at 2.7 V particularly suits requirements for the operation of portable analysers. The thermal compensation of these detectors ensures stable operation even under severe temperature fluctuations.
With the new LMM-274, InfraTec now offers a low-power detector with four channels, so that three gases can be measured simultaneously and a reference channel is also available. For the operation of the LMM-274, a battery for the power supply is sufficient (power consumption in single-supply operation is only 160 μW in contrast to 800 μW in split-supply operation). Due to the high sensitivity of > 90 kV/W, the LMM-274 is ideal for gas analysis in the wavelength range of (8 ... 12) microns and can be used to identify alcohol or chlorinated hydrocarbons.
