Gas detection technology that supports sustainable hydrogen technology

Jan 22 2021

With a pedigree spanning over 30 years, GDS Technologies has a proud history of providing a diverse and bespoke range of gas detection solutions combined with market leading innovation. Built on an ethos of integrity and customer commitment, the company has remained at the forefront in the design and manufacture of products to suit an ever-changing market. The pace of in-house development and research continues unabated as GDS embraces the arrival of the hydrogen revolution.

With countries increasingly committed to the use of renewable energy sources, hydrogen as a clean and viable replacement for fossil fuels has the potential to score an instant win in the global race for net-zero emissions. Modern processes of splitting the molecular structure of water into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) means a cleaner alternative to hydrogen production is now possible and is positioned to supersede even the most environmentally adept electric cells.

With water being the only direct emission, the so called ‘Hydrogen Highway’ is starting to see real traction in hydrogen fuel cell batteries powering cars, buses, trains and even aircraft. This is a game changer for energy transition which could see the development of an annual €100 billion economy by 2025. As well as providing sustainable energy for electric vehicles, Hydrogen technology reduces carbon emissions in many industries and sectors, including utilities, industrial, battery charging, off peak excess power grid feed and much more.

GDS offer addressable or stand-alone hydrogen gas detection using proven, robust and reliable technology compatible with worldwide safe and hazardous area applications. A cost-effective compact package, the F6 Hydrogen gas detector conforms to international standards ATEX, IECEx. This highly reliable instrument features a 0~100% LEL range and is explosion proof (Exd IIC) for high-risk gas / environments. To eliminate the problems encountered working at heights, GDS have added their aspirator sensor units. Operators also have the assurance of being backed up by GDS’ exceptional levels of customer support.
