New Rapid Gas Detection Instrumentation from Ashtead Technology

Jul 15 2010

Instrumentation specialist Ashtead Technology is delighted to announce the addition of the latest hydrocarbon gas detector available on the UK market to its comprehensive fleet of rental equipment.

The new Gas-Tec portable gas detector from Crowcon Detection Instruments is designed to rapidly identify and localise methane leaks from landfill sites and waste processing facilities.

Using the very latest Flame Ionisation Detection (FID) technology, the Gas-Tec features GPS, data and event logging, allowing survey teams to track progress and quickly pinpoint and record areas of significant interest.

It can also be used for detecting leaks at Bio-energy plants, within utilities and construction and for Health & Safety investigations. The Gas-Tec has a response time of less than two seconds and its rechargeable batteries allow for continuous use for up to 22 hours.

Ashtead Technology’s General Manager Alan Hasson said: “As rental instrumentation specialists we are constantly adding the very latest equipment to our fleet. The Gas-Tec is a perfect illustration of this as the product has just been launched.

Our customers can now experience the many benefits of hiring the Gas-Tec, such as the avoidance of capital costs associated with buying outright and the guarantee that all of our instrumentation is delivered fully calibrated and ready to use.”

Damian Cairns, Crowcon’s UK Sales Manager for Portables, added: “The new Gas-Tec represents the continuing evolution of Crowcon Detection Instruments’ industry leading leak detector that, for the first time, can produce fully traceable electronic survey results; an innovation made possible by Gas-Tec’s integrated GPS and data logging.

“Ashtead Technology customers can now benefit from this latest advance in leak surveying technology, in an instrument which retains the speed of response and reliability that has made the original Gas-Tec a market leader; it’s a powerful package that has applications across UK industry.”
