Fixed Detector Uses Infra-red Technology to Detect Explosive Gases

Sep 18 2012

Safety plays a large factor in the case for gas detection. There is not only the safety of employees to consider but also plant, environmental and public safety. In the scenario of a large gas leak, gas detection can save you money in the long term whilst reducing the risk of a plant shut down. With Oldham fixed gas detectors and control systems you can be sure that you’re at the forefront of gas detection.

The Oldham OLCT100 utilises infra-red sensor technology to provide detection of explosive gases in severe environments where the presence of poisons could harm the use of a catalytic cell (the IR sensors offer a longer life expectancy, 5-10 years rather than 2 years for catalytic). Oldham provides the option of an explosion proof version to ensure that the OLCT100 is free from harm of poisons and high temperatures (of up to 200°C). In addition to detecting explosive gases the OLCT100 can be equipped to detect toxic gases, Freon’s and oxygen deficient and enriched environments

The rugged design and durability of the OLCT100 is not the only benefit it has to offer, it can automatically compensate for temperature changes and has a response time of less than 15 seconds. Suitable for multiple applications, the intrinsically safe OLCT100 has a SIL2 rating and full ATEX approval.
