Technology Proves Effective for Environmental Lab Applications
Mar 31 2016
Xylem Inc. (USA), a leading global water technology company, addresses the needs of the environmental lab, with proven solutions for selective detection of pesticides, as well as a strong set of solutions for measuring pH in the lab and other applications.
The new OI Analytical 5383 Pulsed Flame Photometric Detector (PFPD) is ideal for detecting organophosphate (OP) pesticides, and is the second generation of OI Analytical’s proven PFPD technology, trusted by labs around the world for more than 20 years for accurate results. When mounted in a GC or GC/MS, the 5383 gives chemists the ability to specifically determine and selectively analyse low levels of sulphur, phosphorus, and 26 other analytes of interest. New, intuitive, easy-to-use software provides a powerful tool for configuration, optimisation, and analysis.
An important addition to Xylem’s offerings for environmental labs, are the YSI brand pH meters and ISE electrodes. YSI has a long history of providing both field and lab instruments that measure a wide range of parameters. Their dissolved oxygen (DO) sensors have long been a staple in most water and wastewater labs, as part of daily testing to measure the effectiveness of the treatment processes and for permit compliance reporting. YSI is now leveraging their lab expertise and raising it to a whole new level, with a new focus on pH and ISE lab applications.
One of the newer pH electrodes from YSI is their IoLine electrodes, with a unique iodine/iodide reference system with a patented three-chamber reservoir system. IoLine electrodes offer unbeatable stability, higher accuracy, and faster response times for faster results, as compared to traditional Ag/AgCI reference systems.
Rounding out the YSI pH solutions for the environmental lab are the TruLab and MultiLab meters, a complete line of easy-to-use benchtop lab instruments ideal for routine and precise measurements of pH, ISEs and other parameters. Backed by a 3-year warranty with easy-to-use, menu-driven operation, the TruLab and MultiLab come in a variety of options including single, dual, or triple channels. The MultiLab meters are also available with Intelligent Digital Sensor (IDS) technology (sensors are auto-recognised by the instrument, no need for setup or configuration, and store their own calibration), with internal memory and optional built-in printer.
