New Information on “Dioxin & PCB Analysis”
Apr 25 2012
For decades, Dioxins and PCBs have been analysed in various matrices.
As they bioaccumulate due to their lipophilic nature, they are classed as Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and their emission into the environment and food chain is strictly controlled. Sample matrices range from inherently complex foodstuffs like fish, to simpler matrices such as stack emissions from waste incineration sites. The optimal clean up of these samples is challenging, but also mandatory to achieve reliable and reproducible results. The Supelco Dioxin Sample Prep System provides a highly efficient means of an inline extraction and isolation of Dioxins, Furans, and PCBs from stack gases, wastewater, soil, food, blood, and milk.
The Supelco prep system design offers: Decrease in sample preparation time up to 2 days relative to conventional methods, Extraction recoveries greater than 85% and Reduced solvent usage
The new “Dioxin & PCB Analysis” brochure (JXB) from Sigma (Switzerland) provides details on the two versions of the Prep System, GC columns, air sampler and resins for gas/air sampling, as well as suitable solvents for the work up of the sampling media.
