Extended E-learning Platform: Eight Customer Seminars Now Available

Mar 28 2008

·New courses for SPECTROMAXx, SPECTROLAB, SPECTRO GENESIS, SPECTRO MIDEX and SPECTRO PHOENIX II
·Highly technical seminars in accordance with customer demand

SPECTRO Analytical Instruments has added five new, online seminars to its Customer Campus; free-of-charge at our website

Eight training seminars for elemental analysis are now available on the E-learning platform. The courses are interactive, step-by-step lessons. Customers can easily learn about the fundamental technology involved in the instruments without having to study time consuming software instructions.

“The Web-based courses available since June have been well accepted by our customers,” explains Tom Milner, Marketing Director at SPECTRO. “That’s why we’ve decided to expand our course program by new online seminars.” The new seminars explain how the SPECTROMAXx and SPECTROLAB stationary metal analyzers work. There is also a course for the SPECTRO MIDEX bench-top analytical system that uses X-ray fluorescence technology as well as one for the SPECTRO PHOENIX II, an ED-XRF analyzer with polarization technology. A training course for the SPECTRO GENESIS ICP-OES instrument is also new. An additional seminar dealing with polarized excitation technology in XRF instruments is planned for the beginning of March.

Each online seminar is divided into several chapters and includes about 50 pages. A general introduction forms the basis for the additional course units. The degree of difficulty of the formulation of the questions increases from lesson to lesson. “Our multimedia interactive presentations simplify understanding of the complex interrelationships,” explains Milner. “Still, the seminars offer heavy fare and deepen one’s knowledge of the technology. And that is exactly the kind of challenge that the customers expect from an online seminar,” continues Milner. An additional advantage to the online lessons: The user determines his/her own learning rate and decides when to work on the course, which requires a total of about two hours. The lesson can be interrupted at any point and then continued from the given position at a later time.
Upon completion of each of the fundamental seminars, the user receives a certificate confirming his/her successful participation.

After registration, the online seminars are available free-of-charge at www.spectro.com. In addition to the five new courses, seminars covering the fundamentals of XRF and OES analysis and a training course for the SPECTRO ARCOS ICP-OES spectrometer have been available for a longer period of time.
